After a short three months, Velan Studios is finally updating their Knockout City lineup with Season 2. They dubbed the new season “Fight at The Movies,” which comes out on all platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The developers teased new content for the dodge brawl shooter in the EA Originals spotlight, and The Load Screen covers what competition the second season brings for all players.

The indie developers showed two maps for the season at the EA Spotlight event, but only one launches with the new content, according to Knockout City chronicle #8. The child playroom set described in Guha Bala’s spotlight, president of Velan Studios, is built into the new map. It is called the Holowood Drive-In, and it features the craziest level mechanics yet: disappearing grouped obstacles.

Brawlers will fight in one sound stage on the new map that changes sets regularly and can cause cover to disappear instantly. Six different sets are available with the start of the season, and each is movie genre-themed. Players can expect hot fishy kaiju action in “Armazillo” and a pyramid theme in the “Return of the Mummy’s Curse.” “The Siege of Castle Ballthazar” and “Cathedral of Horror” are more straightforward genre sets. “Caught by Love” gives gamers a romantic bridge for battling unwanted advances by opponents in the form of flying balls. Finally, “Mary Morris and Her Magical Mice” is the oversized child’s bedroom.

Knockout City adds one new ball and booster for the season, and they fit the movie theme. The weapon is called the Soda Ball, and it contains Boba Cola that will explode after being shaken. The fuzzy brew momentarily blinds anyone unfortunate enough to taste the blast. Although the player must charge the attack for the cola bomb to go off, once the reaction starts, there is no going back. The game also gets a new booster called Orange Overcharge. This soda booster gives players a +500% experience for overcharged KOs. The ability lasts for an hour once used, which provides plenty of time to score the bonus loot.

Player experiences are improving as well. The league will now have a leaderboard for brawlers wanting to see where they stand. There is also an expansion of the Contracts with many new ones, including a daily login reward that varies from experience to Style chips, Holobux, energy drinks, and packs. The developers stocked the Brawl Shop with new cosmetics and a new tab that discounts complete outfits. “Kaiju Terror: Armazillo!” is the first one, and it includes the suit plus defeat pose, player icon, and crew logo for 2400 Holobux.

The second season of Knockout City brings the movies to life and lets players beat each other mercilessly with dodgeballs. Velan Studios focused on an intense mash-up map while working on only one additional special ball so far. Those changes, especially the new map, will have The Load Screen team gearing up to launch into Knockout City Season 2.
